Are you serious? Why on earth would any self respecting Pittsburgh sports fan ever visit any web site dedicated to a AAAA minor league baseball team?
They are on the verge of their 19th consecutive losing season, with no end in sight to the losing. Their biggest selling point is that this may be the year… they break the century mark and go 63-99.
I can’t believe you guys even posted this garbage on this blog. You should have put up a real pro sports team, the Pittsburgh Power.

I am from New England and a die hard Red Sox fan, but I am also a fan of the Pirates. I grew up during the seventies. How can you not like the Buccos!! Pops, Cobra, Omar, Candyman, “We Are Family”!! What a great period of baseball!! I have read numerous books about that team. Great reads. I own the complete DVD series of ’79 World Series. It brought me back. The Pirates need to make a come back at some point. Despite their troubles, they are still a big part of baseball history. I have been to Pittsburgh several times to see my Steelers and I did sneak a peak at PNC Park. What a great stadium.

I too own the complete DVD series of ’79 World Series. But they’ve brought these troubles on themselves.
The shame of it all is that their glory years are only part of baseball history, and as long as baseball owners continue to subsidize small market teams they will never win again.
Pittsburgh fans were lied to, Pirates ownership told us that they would field a winning team after PNC Park was built, its 10 years and there is no end in sight to the losing, pathetic.
Pittsburgh fans need to stop going to Pirates games and maybe the owners will get the message and start spending money on salary, or move the team to another city and end the misery, either way is fine with me.
They need to move a AAA team in here so we can enjoy winning baseball again.
