While a teammate already said that Maurkice Pouncey wasn’t going to play in Super Bowl XLV, don’t count the All-Pro rookie out all that fast. On Friday, the injured center showed up at the Steelers facility wearing a protective boot on his injured left ankle. It’s a switch from thecast he had been wearing the past few days.
Pouncey in the first official injury report for Super Bowl XLV was listed as questionable. The Post-Gazette reported on Wednesday that Pouncey has a broken bone in his left ankle along with the high ankle sprain that he suffered vs the Jets.
Pouncey, defensive end Aaron Smith (triceps tendon) and safety Will Allen (sprained knee) were listed as questionable. Smith is very unlikely to play, as he still has yet to take part in a practice. Allen says there’s no question he will play. “I’m playing,” Allen said. “No way I’ll miss my first Super Bowl.
