Storylines Will Be Fast and Furious for Super Bowl XLV

It’s going to seem like an eternity between Sunday’s win over the Jets at home to clinch the AFC, and when the ball finally gets kicked off for Super Bowl XLV in Dallas on Sunday evening, February 6th. Between now and then, the media is going to write no less than THOUSANDS of stories about the game, with more and more hitting the web and newspapers as the game gets closer.

For now, there’s time to breathe before stories start hitting the world. Here’s just some of the many stories, some legit, and some not, that will be created and thrown at fans leading up to Super Bowl XLV.

1. The fans new love affair with Ben Roethlisberger – Hard to believe that it was just 10 months ago that there was a strong rumor around draft time that the Steelers were going to trade their franchise QB for a high draft choice. Remember the big rumor of the Raiders getting Ben? How about the Rams for the #1 overall pick? Well, that was then, and now the fans love #7 again, as folks say he’s truly a changed man, and he’s 60 good minutes of football away from tying Tom Brady with three Super Bowl rings. Good thing the Steelers didn’t do something stupid like give up on the guy.

2. Dom Capers defense – Led by some great young talent like Clay Matthews Jr. and B.J. Raji, the Packers have a defense that could be good for a long time to come. The Pack was second in the league in allowing points (yeah, the Steelers were one in points allowed), and the question for both defenses is who can stop the other more? Capers was a former Steelers assistant, and he would like nothing better than to stop Ben and the Steelers offense in Dallas.

3. The rise of Rodgers – Yes, Aaron Rodgers has been very good in the postseason, and his play in the three wins can’t be overstated. The Packers waited three seasons for Brett Favre to walk away (well, they finally traded him), to get a shot to start Rodgers, but he’s done a great job, throwing 86 touchdowns and 32 picks in three full seasons. Rodgers could be a hero Super Bowl Sunday, and it’ll be the Steelers job to stop his rise that he’s been on this postseason.

4. The Two Best Franchises Ever – The stories are already being written about the fact that Super Bowl XLV will be between what many feel are the two best teams in the history of the NFL. The Rooney’s have established themselves as the premiere owners in the NFL, while the Packers rich history of winning Super Bowl’s I and II and their love affair with their city is well documented. Two teams – two franchises that have a clear connection with the cities that love them.
