The Steelers have a new guard, as Ramon Foster has replaced Trai Essex as the permanent starter at right guard. Foser will work in tandem on the right side with Flozell Adams.
“We liked the intensity,” Mike Tomlin said. “We liked the physical presence that he provided. We liked the way that he and Flozell worked together. We’ll push forward.”

Doesnt matter… just another linemen to give up sacks and holding penalites. Didnt he have a clipping penalty last week too?

George H, I understand your frustration. The O-line has not distinguished itself this year, but it is an improved unit over last year, just as R. Foster is an improvement over Essex, and Pouncey over Hartwig. J. Scott and D. Lygurski have been asked to play multiple positions, often within the same game. That’s tough to do well.
Sean Kugler has done a commendable job just keeping the O-line from a giant melt-down in the face of all the injuries this year. That our backups have played adequately is due to Kugler’s efforts.
The unit will begin playing much better if and when the personnel stops changing. An O-line needs to acquire confidence in each other in order to pick up blitzs and changes in the defensive alignment, and that requires the continuity gained from playing together as a unit. We haven’t had that luxury since the early games of the season, and the constant shuffling of personnel results in penalties and missed assignments. This line will get a lot better if we can just get through this spate of injuries. I look for this group to manhandle Buffalo on Sunday and do well against the Ravens.
