The Steelers are dealing with yet ANOTHER injury, and this time it’s to the wild man of the defense, Troy Polamalu, who has a strained right Achilles tendon..
Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette says that the ailment is “potentially bothersome.” Coach Mike Tomlin said the team is “probably going to slow (Polamalu) down here in the early portions of the week… with an eye toward practicing in the latter part of the week.”
Tomlin expects Polamalu to play this weekend, which is certainly encouraging, but keep a close eye on this one, as it’s certainly an injury that could get worse. Yet another blow to a team that cannot afford anything else bad to happen as they get ready for the Raiders.

Achilles injuries are troublesome to assess; they can be mild strains or potential tears. A hobbled Polamalu is not a happy prospect when we are trying to rebound from a loss versus a team on the rise. A slower secondary, we don’t need.
