The Post-Gazette seems to feel that the team should bring back Frank Summers, but instead of having him be a fullback, he should get chances to carry the ball.
Among those who should be signed to the practice squad is Frank Summers, but the coaches should re-think how they use him. Summers is not a blocking back, he’s a runner, and the attempts to make him into a lead blocker did not go well. They should allow him to run. He did not have a carry this preseason while Justin Vincent had 11 carries and Dwayne Wright, who was waived on the first cut last week, had eight. As a rookie, Summers had three carries.

i totaly agree. i think they are taking away his strength at wat he does best. and thats a strait ahead downhill runner, not a blocker. i sure hope they finally realize this.

True. That’s probably why it seems so unnatural to watch Summers. He’s a runner not a blocker. Why would you teach someone at this professional level something other then what he’s been working at his whole career thus far? Furthermore, I believe they should have both Summers and Redman on the team as RB’s.
