Athletes are using Facebook and Twitter to interact with their fans more and more each day, but for the first time in the history of Social Media, an NFL superstar is actually participating in a fantasy football league with his fans, and for a great cause.
Pittsburgh Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley has decided to take fan interaction to the next level through his Facebook Fan Page by hosting his own fantasy football league. To this point, eleven of the twelve spots in his league has been handed out through a variety of interactive tasks, leaving one final spot left.
LaMarr decided to hold his own auction on eBay for his final spot, with the catch being that 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The P.A.C.T Initiative, encouraging fans to open up their wallets and hearts for a great cause. The auction will end August 28, 2010 6:22pm EST.
Said Steelers Pro Bowl LB LaMarr Woodley: “Among other organizations, I support P.A.C.T. (Prevent Another Crime Today) and what they are doing in the community to help prevent crime. Being a defensive guy, I don’t pay much attention to fantasy football, but I know the fans are crazy for it so I thought this would be a good way to have a little fun with it while helping to raise money for a great cause.”
LaMarr has picked his first eleven members of his league (including himself) in a variety of interactive ways via his Facebook Fan Page. You can visit his page HERE to see the creativity he has implored and how the fans reacted, but just one example;
He posted “slot #3 in my fantasy league, be 1st person to post a video on here imitating my post sack leg kick while wearing my jersey haha”.
