No way. Dixon looks good playing against other scrubs. If he runs as much as he has these two games he might last until halftime of the first game.

Albeit Dixon’s competition is against backups he is doing everything you want a qb to be doing. He looks real comfortable in the pocket and making crisp throws. He also knows when to tuck the ball and run.I think someday soon he can be a productive qb in the league. I hope he gets the start over lefty, something about byron isnt impressing me. Hes starting to show some age and is looking kinda slow.

Dixon looks like he can get a little done without giving the ball away. However I think Leftwich is the only guy who can get those deep passes to Wallace, however nervous he makes me as QB.

What I like about Dixon is that he’s just dynamic on the field. Is he always making good decisions? No. But he’s got to be worrisome for opposing defenses. I know Arians is no fan of Wildcat style offense, but I surely would like to see them work Dixon into the offense on a regular basis this year even if he is not the starter – and even after that other QB comes back. Let’s face it, Leftwich has a nice arm but is pretty much a statue back there.

Dixon earning the chance to start opening day? – I’m not sure yet.
But I do think that he has earned the chance to start a pre-season game……and that game should be the best insight into whether or not he is ready for opening day. He has done everything you could hope for when in with the 2nd team……….At this point all you can see is what he can do with the first team.
