The preseason opener is two days away, yet who is going to start at QB and how the rotation will go is still a mystery to everyone.
Forget about Mike Tomlin letting the media or the fans know who is going to be the starter, as he sent a little message out today for those that want to know.
“We’re going to make you come to the stadium and come check it out,” said Tomlin.
That’s fine, as you know it’s going to be one of two QB’s starting the game – Byron Leftwich, who has gotten a lot of the first team snaps, or Ben Roethlisberger, who will return to the starting role once he’s back from suspension.
“I think that’s been the best thing about how we have approached the quarterback situation thus far is we started with a plan and we’ve been very clear about that,” said Tomlin. “We want to provide Ben enough opportunities to have a productive camp and preseason. At the same time we want to have clarity with the quarterback situation, and I think we’ve stayed true to form thus far, and I think we will continue with that as we get into the games.”
It’s just the first game of the preseason, go really it doesn’t even matter if Dennis Dixon ends up under center to start the game. These games are all about getting young players ready, and the vets simply getting loose for the regular season.
My bet is that Leftwich starts, Ben plays, and Dixon gets a lot of time in the second half.
