Trying to reform his image from a guy who has been accused of being uncaring, Ben Roethlisberger on Wednesday made a surprise show-up at a youth camp he usually runs each summer north of Pittsburgh.
Roethlisberger has run the camp at Mars Area High School the last two years, but didn’t do the camp after the issues this past offseason that saw him accused of rape at a Georgia nightclub in March, but not prosecuted.
Black and gold coach Mike Tomlin has been running the camp and even brought his 8- and 9-year-old sons. Roethlisberger made a surprise visit Wednesday.
Tomlin says he’s enjoyed getting to “baby sit” the camp and may return next year, even though he expects Roethlisberger to be back running the camp.
