Longtime Steelers beat reporter for the Post-Gazette Ed Bouchette talked a little in his chat with fans about Ben’s back on the field day yesterday, and this caught my eye about the way the QB acted:
I saw him afterward and he also seemed pleasant, almost at ease. I do know he wants to change, not just his image, but he wants to change how he acts and how he treats people. This is going to be a long, ongoing story that took one more step today.
I would take this as a positive step, but at the same time, can the QB stay consistent with the way he ‘treats people’ or is this just going to be a show for the media? Bottom line, the SI story about him seems more and more true, and that’s scary considering how much of the franchise rests on his shoulders.

Can we please get off his case for the LOVE OF GOD!!!!!! I was (one of) the first people/persons to chastise him for his behavior and extremely poor judgement, believe the suspension in highly warranted and am currently waiting on him to prove that he is a “better man.” However, it has been over a month now…How is he supposed to change when there’s constant scrutiny surrounding not only his every move but also what he says?!? This is bad (speculative) reporting; not on Bouchette’s part….Ed Bouchette, although not in agreement with myself on certain (perceived) beliefs, is AN HONEST REORTER! He dubunked the Rooney winning at the race track myth to buy the Steelers which tells me he is extrememly unbiased and impartial and honest; believes in reporting what’s right in lieu of propoganda and sensationalism. If Ed says Ben approached him to be “a better man” then shouldn’t we give the benefit of the doubt to our QB, reporter/beat writer instead of this constant scrutiny. Just think of how much Better Ben could be if he started taking all this stuff more seriously and with an ounce of humility. More importantly, coming from a man (myself) who has defeated similar issues (of addiction) I root for ben not just to be a better QB but also to be a better man because that is where the true triumph is. Anyone who is naturally good-natured can be a good man/woman. The hard part and the part that tests character is when you have certain issues/ defects that cause these things and then the challenge becomes yourself! GO for it Ben, Get better!
