Last season there was plenty of talk about the issues between Hines Ward and Ben Roethlisberger after the issues around the Sunday night interview before the first Ravens-Steelers game. It sent what seemed to be a ripple effect in the Steelers locker room, and while Ward said he was not trying to hurt feelings, you know that it had to have some real impact on the teams chemistry at that point of the season gone wrong.
Now there’s more talk from Ward about Roethlisberger, and this time it’s about the QB’s recent suspension. The word from Ward is he feels that the suspension is deserved:
As far as Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is concerned, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s suspension was well-deserved. Ward is disappointed and worried about what position Roethlisberger’s status leaves the team in.
“I don’t know how the season’s going to go. That’s what is uneasy, the uncertainty,” Ward said today. “As of now we don’t have a starting quarterback. It’s kind of like quarterback by committee, and so the uncertainty of that issue plays on a lot of guys’ minds. You don’t know who your starting quarterback is.”
Roethlisberger was suspended for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. “I think the suspension is justified, it is what it is,” Ward said. “Is it disappointing? Yes.”
