Scout.com had this tidbit today, about another possible prospect the Steelers could have in mind to draft, and that’s Texas safety Earl Thomas:
Texas safety Earl Thomas has added a visit with the San Diego Chargers on April 13-14, and that could be the final stop on his whirlwind tour of NFL cities over the next two weeks. The projected first-round pick is currently in Cincinnati meeting with the Bengals. Next week he’s scheduled to visit the Browns, Dolphins, Titans and Steelers and then he’ll head to Jacksonville to meet with the Jaguars on April 11-12 before flying out to visit the Kansas City Chiefs on April 12-13.
If you are a fan of Thomas, take a check of this video and some of his worst moments of last season:

Matt,
What do you mean, “worst moments?” Are you being sarcastic? This kid is all over the field. If we had a crystal ball and looked into the futuure and saw that Craig Urbik would be a really good RG, then I would want us to take Thomas. As it stands now, I want Iupati or trade back five or six spots, acquire another third round pick and take Pouncey. I think that, in this particular draft coming up with its supposed extraordinary depth especially on the defensive side of the ball where a second round pick might be like a late first round in normal years and a third round pick might be like a second round pick in normal years (again, I’m referring to primarily defense here), if we go offensive line first round, there’s practically no way we would take offense at ANY position in rounds two or three. Think about it, we signed Randle El and Battle so even if a WR drops, we’re probably not taking him. And, we probably won’t take a RB before round four either because, as Shonn Green exhibited last year, a third round back has the ability to be a starter. In this year’s draft with all the defensive talent lingering in rounds two and three, if one were to take a RB while they already have Mendenhall, that would mean that that would have to be a pretty good RB and what’s the point of taking a pretty good RB when you already have one; you’d have to give him carries and carries means money and that’s Rashard’s gig right now! That potentially means that rounds two and three we’ll take a defensive player which, again in this draft, is good news because of the depth and potentially getting players who, may not necessarily start but may contribute right away. So, if we take an O-Lineman in the first round, we’re practically guaranteed two good defensive players in rounds two and three (of course, I’ll probably be wrong and the Steelers will take like a TE and T in the first two rounds or something).

I agree, this kid was all over the field and showed very good “make-up” speed too! I wouldnt mind seeing him (based upon that videeo, of course) being in Pittsburgh. Jay is right, with the depth at defense in this years draft, I aslo think the Steelers are going OL in the 1st and then defensive in the next 2. As much as I want that STUD CB, I cant fault the team if the OL they are targeting is there. I can see them taking a guard b4 a tackle though, anyone else agree with that?

we should trade down to pick 22 witch is the patriots pick in exchange get one of there 2nd round draft picks and hopefully at pick 22 we can get taylor mayes trust me if we draft him he wont b defensive rookie of the year but he’ll be our special teamer of the year, and splash plays defensive rookie of the year for us 230 4.3 4.4 speed thats unreal we would be foolish to pass him up
