Remember the smack the Bengals and their fans yapped about with two wins over the Steelers? Well, now another season for the Queen City kitties is in the books. The Bengals fell by 10 to the Jets Saturday, ending their season.
Our sister Bengals site – BengalsGab, did a pretty good job this morning summing up the heartache that the Bengals and their fans are going through today, and while we wait for the Ravens season to end later today, I thought this would be a good read for Steelers Nation.

Ravens look pretty dangerous. Beating the patriots in N.E is a feather in their cap. Beating the Colts or Chargers with just a running game is not going to happen though. Flacco and this offense will HAVE to throw the ball to advance at this point.

If there is any doubt about what many of us having been saying on this site all year long, the first playoff games should have laid the doubts to rest. Steelers football wins. All of the winners this week had: a strong running game, a strong defense including a superior pass rush, and a dominate O-line. Compare the yards rushing versus the yards passing in the Ravens shellacking of the Patriots. All of the winners can run the ball. The winners are playing Steelers-style football — without the Steelers. Mr. Tomlin — take note.

Right on the money DrGeorge. I was screaming that at my wife during the Jet-Bengals game and then during the Ravens-Pats game too. Its a glaringly successful formula that most of these teams are using. Yes, its Steeler football that’s winning playoff games. I can imagine that the team is taking note of what the Jets and Ravens have used so well. With a new O-line coach I can imagine that a new blocking scheme will go into effect next season to go along with a more balanced philosophy. We can hope, right? Maybe the O-line draft pick or the FA we acquire will fit into the “new” scheme of things on the offensive side of the ball and we will see more of “our” favorite Steeler football. I think with weapons like Wallace,Holmes and MIller to go along with the reliable Ward, a good running game will not urn the Steelers into a “boring” team like the Ron Erhardt days. It may have been somewhat effective, but it was boring and we punted a lot back then! with Ben and those weapons, running the ball can turn this offense into an unstoppable force. Steelers have better weapons on offense than do the Bengals or Ravens or Jets! Just not up front where it matters most! At least not under the deposed coach, so lets see what the new coach does with this group.
