Steelers Fire Offensive Line Coach Larry Zierlein

The Steelers fired offensive line coach Larry Zierlein today. He’s the first assistant under Mike Tomlin to be fired since he became coach before the 2007 season. Reports say that he was going to meet with some of his linemen on Wednesday, only to be told he was being replaced. He was seen leaving the Steelers’ offices with several large boxes. Zierlein previously coached for the Browns and Bills, plus five college teams.

Word is that Bruce Arians held a long meeting today with Tomlin, and even though some outlets stated he would be fired, he’s now expected to stick around. Zierlein is the 2nd assistant so far that won’t for sure be back in 2010, as QB coach Ken Anderson retired on Tuesday.
