Rashard Mendenhall sat the bench for the game Sunday in Cincy, and one has to wonder if he is going to show up this week for the game at home vs the Chargers. Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that despite how it looks, he does not have a doghouse:
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin took issue yesterday when he was asked at his news conference if Rashard Mendenhall was still in his doghouse. “He is not in the doghouse. I don’t have a doghouse,” Tomlin replied. “A doghouse is something you have when you let things stew and you don’t take action. I intend to take action and I’m done with it. “He lacked a little detail in his preparation last week, so I chose not to play him offensively, and really was quite frank in dealing with him.”

I like Tomlins approach. The kid didnt practice well, the kid doesnt play. #14 keeps dropping passes in bIG spots, the kid doesnt play.It is a very simple way of improving the team output on game day. If you cant get it done during the week, why should you try to get it done on Sunday? I am worried about the fact that both of these guys are 1-2 from the draft in 2008. 2 wasted, top picks will set a franchise back at some point.
