It appears that the news around Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons is not good, as he did not practice again today because of a high ankle sprain and is not expected to play in the NFL season opener against Tennessee.
Timmons did not take part in any pre-game practices, and Steelers players who do not practice rarely play. Pittsburgh faces the Titans on Thursday.
It looks like the starting LB spot inside will go to Keyaron Fox, one of the Steelers’ two special teams captains. Fox played four seasons with Kansas City from 2004-07, but did not start any games for Pittsburgh last season.
While losing Timmons huts, the big thing is he’ll have a week and a half to heal the ankle to get ready for the Bears on the 20th.
