The Steelers final preseason game wasn’t much to see, unless of course you love watching backup players that may or may not be able to crack the Steelers final 53-man roster. One player that seemed to clinch a roster spot in the teams 21-10 win over the Panthers was Stefan Logan, who took an early punt back 80 yards for a Steelers score to make it 7-0.
Exactly 10 minutes later with the backups in the game, Isacc Redman went in from 10 yards out to give the Steelers a demanding 14-0 lead that they would never give up. Another player that could have clinched a roster spot is Ryan Mundy, who took back an interception 31 yards to make it 21-7 in the third quarter.
The game had little offense for the Steelers, who managed just 211 yards, went 2-for-10 on third downs, and had 12 first downs all night. Bottom line though, they won, and now they can get ready for the real deal in seven days when the team takes the field for real vs the Tennessee Titans.
Ben Roethlisberger went 1-for-1 for 7 yards, Rashard Mendenhall rushed twice for one yard. A couple backups did get banged up – defensive tackle Scott Paxson, (concussion) and receivers Dallas Baker (hip) and Tyler Grisham (shoulder) all left with injuries.
