Please. People in Latrobe have watched a few practice sessions, and already are in panic mode over a “slow” start by QB Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger said on Monday that the start has to do with his arm “not feeling strong.”
Now, before people start calling for Dennis Dixon to be the opening day starter vs Tennessee, remember that Ben usually gets off to slow starts in camp, and usually is his strong self by the time it’s all said and done. In other words – relax.
“By Wednesday I’ll be getting better and by the weekend I’ll be in pretty good form,” he added. Take a deep breath fans, he’ll be fine.

People, c’mon!! Ben will be fine! It amazes me that whenever Ben is struggling a bit, there are those “fans” that cannot wait to see his back-up on the field. Whether its Batch, Leftwich last year, now Dennis Dixon. This is crazy talk. Ben is, has been, and will be for the next several season the Steelers best QB and best chance for the team to win games. Not one of the other 3 people I mentioned would have delivered a championship last year. Ben is arguable a top 5 QB in the league and if he is having a slow start to camp, so be it. I doubt the coaches and players are that concerned. On opening day, Ben will be the man. Regardless of camp or the pre-season, we all know who gives the team its best opportunity to win. Ben is a winner and knows what it takes to stay a winner.
