The Steelers have done a nice job this offseason getting some veteran players inked, such as Hines Ward and James Harrison, and now they may be on the verge of getting another veteran signed to a deal. Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network says the club is in talks with safety Ryan Clark about an extension on his current deal.
Clark, who is a solid vet in and out of the locker room, played in 14 games last season with 52 tackles and one interception. The report says that Clark and the team both would like to get a deal signed before the start of training camp. Clark will be 30 this October, and for sure has a couple good seasons left and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him ink a 3-4 year deal.

Great! Ryan Clark has earned this. He has played well and is an enforcer in the secondary. He is a prefect compliment to Troy.

Mark — I think he has earned his stripes. Not sure I would say he is a “perfect” compliment to Troy.

I agree so long as other more important things happen first such as Heath Miller (that didn’t happen already did it..am in a masters program and haven’t been able to keep up with everything)…Don’t care if FWP isn’t resigned…only so much money to go around…but either Hampton OR Keisel need to either be extended and/or franchised next year as well. If Sweed and Thomas (what is the 3rd round WR pick’s name?) KSA and perform well, will we extend Holmes after next year???

Clark has earned his stripes. However we have to think of future in that postion and other players that have been more of a impact on the team a 2 year deal max. I beleive we will get a Ed Reed in that position to hold it down even better plus didn’t we pick up a FS last year in the draft?
