The Steelers grabbed rookie wide out Mike Wallace over the weekend, but that doesn’t mean they won’t keep looking at other veteran pass catchers that could possibly come in and help the team. The Tribune-Review reports that the team met with free-agent WR Ashlie Lelie on Monday, and could be close to getting a deal done with him. “He had a great visit. The Steelers and I are going to continue to have open dialogue,” agent Peter Schaffer said. “I think there’s some mutual interest, and we’re going to keep discussing it.”
Lelie was the 19th overall selection in the 2002 NFL Draft by the Broncos and played four seasons in Denver. He played the last three seasons in Atlanta, San Francisco and Oakland. In his last season with the Raiders, he caught 11 passes for 197 yards and two scores.
