Number 7: December 29th 1974 – Swann Puts the Steelers Ahead for Good vs Oakland in the AFC Championship Game
Playing in a hostile enviorment vs the Raiders, the Steelers hung in with Oakland, and found themselves tied at 10 following a Franco Harris 8-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Sensing the kill and a chance to get to their first Super Bowl, the Steelers defense came up with a big play, as Jack Ham read Ken Stabler and intercepted a Raiders pass that he returned 24 yards to the 9-yard line. With the Radiers on the ropes and the Steelers ready to make history, Terry Bradshaw fired a strike to Lynn Swann and the HOF WR made a great catch from 6 yards out near the back of the end zone to put the Steelers up for good at 17-10. The Steelers D and running game took over, and the Steelers were off to their first Super Bowl after the 24-13 win.
