The Steelers are never fast to make decisions on free agents, and it seems like the same has happened in terms of WR Joey Galloway and KR/CB Chris Carr.
Reports say that the Steelers who had both players in for a visit, did not offer either one a contract, and now they will move on elsewhere.
Carr has an offer on the table from the Titans according to the Tennessean. Galloway probably wanted to much money, and with the team right now working on a new deal for LB James Harrison and others, giving him a lot of money is not a good idea.
The Post-Gazette says that even though neither was signed, it does not mean the Steelers didn’t like them, it just means that there’s not a big rush to get a deal done.
Of the two, I think Carr was the better fit. The Steelers could use a decent kick returner, and I don’t see them trying to force Santonio Holmes or Mewelde Moore, the two punt returners, into that role.
Gary Russell, who returned kicks at the end of last season and in the playoffs and Super Bowl, is okay at it, but the team could use a bigger threat in that department.

I agree…Plus, I was hoping they were planning on using Russell in a bigger role this year as well.

Oh, P.S., I’ve been reading some mock drafts and although they are, much like Madden video games, an inaccurate means of gauging NFL foresight, I have seen some now that put that Fili Moala DT/DE at the end of round 2; slightly before the Steelers pick 64th overall. Is it possible that Beatty could be available in round one and Moala in round two and we get both? And what about passing on Mack in round one and trying to get Shipley in rounds 3 or 4?
