The Steelers lost WR Nate Washington in free agency to the Titans last week, but may actually fill that void with that of long-time WR Joey Galloway. The wide out was in Pittsburgh on Monday talking to the team, and the 14-year-vet could actually fill the void left when Washington signed a 6-year, $27 million dollar deal with Tennessee.
Galloway is somewhat damaged goods, as he had a groin strain last season in training camp, and then broke his right foot in the Bucs second game of the season and was never the same. He’s played for three NFL teams in his career, and had posted three consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons before injuries stopped that.
Last season with Tampa Bay he caught just 13 passes for 138 yards. He is 5-foot-11, and is listed at 197 pounds. He worked with Mike Tomlin when Tomlin was in Tampa Bay from 2004-2005. Many thought Limas Sweed, last seasons #2 draft pick would be the new Washington, but that may sit on hold if the team gives Galloway a shot as the number three wide out.
