They’re the teams that Steelers fans have grown to hate over the years. When you see these teams on the schedule, your blood starts to boil just a little bit more, and you start counting the days till those games. Why of course it’s the rivals of the Steelers that we’re talking about, and here we go with the teams top 10 all-time rivals. Today we start with number 7:
7. Cincinnati Bengals – Two teams that have met twice per season since the series started in 1970 playing in the AFC Central. Pittsburgh has won 48 of the 78 meetings, and has not lost to Cincy since early in the 2006 season. The rivalry got to its peak in the 2005 season when the teams met three times, the final time being the only ever playoff game between the two. In that game the Steelers knocked Bengals Pro Bowl QB Carson Palmer out on the second play of the game, and then went on to win after trailing 17-7 by a final of 31-17. The Bengals cried “foul” while the Steelers went on to win their fifth Super Bowl title. The Bengals finally got some revenge on the Steelers with a sweep in 2009, but overall it’s been a rather one-sided series. Pittsburgh has won 12 of the last 17 meetings.
