Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger had an MRI Tuesday to determine just how bad his shoulder injury suffered Monday night against the Redskins is. For now, it very much looks like Byron Leftwich may get the call as the Steelers get set to host Peyton Manning and the Colts Sunday at Hienz Field.
ESPN is reporting that despite the injury to Big Ben in the second quarter of the 23-6 win, there is a shot that the durable QB could still find his way into the starting lineup for the game. Leftwich did give the team a spark, as he hit Nate Washington with a 50-yard pass right away, then eventually got the team in position to score 16 second half points of the huge road win.
The injury to Ben took place during the QB sneak in which he got in for the go-ahead score that made it 10-6. Leftwich was 7-for-10 overall in the game with 129 yards and a TD to Santonio Holmes. The 6-2 Steelers have the Colts at home this week, then next week host the Chargers.
