Despite Groin Injury; Reed Should be Ready for Cincy

One of the biggest reasons for the Steelers success the past few seasons is the play of kicker Jeff Reed. In Sunday night’s game with the Jags, Reed suffered a groin injury, but the good news is reports say he likely won’t miss anytime because of it. Remember Reed did not kickoff after the Steelers go-ahead score that made it 26-21. Instead it was punter Mitch Berger.

Mike Tomlin said that Reed might have been needed to attempt a potential go-ahead field goal. “I don’t know how far (Reed could have kicked) and thankfully we didn’t have to find out,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “He had a kick in him if we needed it. The outer limits of his range remained a question.”

Reed is 9-for-9 on field goals this season, and has been Mr.Dependable for the team the past few seasons. While they should get Willie Parker and maybe even Brett Keisel back for the Cincy game, the better news is that Reed should be okay to go after some rest as well.
