Mike Tomlin ruffled the feathers of some members of the media Sunday when he chased them from the practice field before the team opened camp with its traditional run test. Tomlin said that he felt the test was part of the registration for camp and not a part of football drills and thus excluded the media. Media members were forced to watch drills from the entrance to their dorm building on a hill overlooking part of the field.

Although we’re all excited that the Steelers have started camp, and we’re all craving info., it is his camp. The media can get out of hand at times. Things are hectic enough getting everyone organized, without all the media distractions. Let the players get ready for the season. There is plenty of time scheduled for the media.
