Good news for the Black and Gold on Monday, as stud running back Willie Parker was back on the field for the first time since suffering a broken leg vs the Rams late last season. Parker ran and cut with the rest of his teammates, but did admit some rust. “Right now I’m a little shaky,” Parker said in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “but I’m at full speed, cutting and all that stuff. If not 100 percent, I’m real close to it.”
It was the first day of spring workouts for the Steelers, and the news was that Parker will be 100 percent by the time the team takes the field for real for the first time vs the Texans on September 7th. “Willie has one speed,” Mike Tomlin said. “That’s what you love about him from a mentality standpoint, but we’re not going to win games here April 21, so we’re going to do the best we can to take care of him. I expect him to be 100 percent, no doubt.” And that’s great news for the Steelers.
