Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith, who missed the last 4 games of the 2007 season afte rtearing a biceps muscle against the New England Patriots, is expected to be at full strength for training camp. according to John Harris of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review; Smith underwent surgery and is working out in Colorado, said his agent, Peter Schaffer on Tuesday.
A 4th-round pick in the 1999 draft, Smith has been a mainstay of the Steelers’ starting lineup since 2000; however, he missed most of 3 games last season with the aforementioned biceps injury. Schaffer added that Smith’s recovery has been good, but also reiterated that he doesn’t expect smith to accelerate his rehab process; the Steelers’ offseason conditioning program begins on Monday, but Smith isn’t due to arrive in Pittsburgh until the following week.
