The Steelers have lost one of their, if not their best defensive linemen today as Aaron Smith has been ruled out for the season with a torn biceps muscle. The injury took place during the teams loss to the Pats on Sunday. “Being the guy he is, he continued on,” coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday. “He came out a few times, and that was worrisome because this guy doesn’t come out of games.”
Post-game tests showed the tear, and Tomlin said that Smith have already been playing with a partial tear when he then finally tore it for good Sunday. Nick Eason and Travis Kirschke will likley get the reps with Smith gone. Kirschke will get the first snaps, like he did earlier when Smith was hurt, while Eason will see spot duty. “You’re saddened for Aaron because he’s a quality person and a quality player and he loves playing the game,” Tomlin said.
