The Steelers practice today as they finalize preparations for Sunday’s game at New England. The Patriots, who are undefeated, have the best record in the NFL and AFC at 12-and-0. The Steelers have the third best record in the AFC behind the Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. Steelers’ safety Anthony Smith is not backing down from his prediction after practice on Wednesday that the Steelers would win the game. Patriots coach Bill Belichick is downplaying Smiths’ comments saying that players in both locker rooms have to believe they are going to win the game.
On the injury front, safety Troy Polamalu did not practice on Thursday and may not be available on Sunday. Polamalu, who has a sprained knee, would be replaced in the lineup by Tyrone Carter. Steelers’ linebacker James Harrison was honored by the NFL as the Defensive Player of the Month for November. Harrison registered 19-tackles, 5.5 sacks; 6 forced fumbles, 1 interception and 1 fumble recover in four games. Harrison is the first Steelers player to be honored this year with a monthly award.
