Steelers players are saying they prefer the natural grass surface at Heinz Field instead of Field Turf. The subject of grass vs. turf was a hot topic in the Steelers locker room after practice on Wednesday with the majority of players saying they like playing on grass and feel Heinz Field gives them a home-field advantage. Wide receiver Hines Ward explained that despite the advancements in artificial surfaces over the years, grass still gives and cushions better than turf. Defensive end Aaron Smith explained that the day after playing on turf, you can feel it in your joints and back. Not surprisingly one player, running back Willie Parker, preferred field turf. Parker says solid footing and a good track play into his speed. Steelers president Art Rooney says they club is working with the NFL to ensure Heinz Field is in the best, possible condition for Sunday night?s game against Cincinnati.
