Head coach Mike Tomlin is downplaying the condition of the turf at Heinz Field, as his team turns its attention to the Cincinnati Bengals. Tomlin was asked about the turf during his weekly news conference on more than one occasion. He replied that he has faith that the grounds crew will have the field in the best possible condition for the game on Sunday night. When asked again about the turf Tomlin replied “it’s football, it’s December in Pittsburgh, besides, who didn’t like to play in the mud as a kid. Plus it’s the same for both teams.” Tomlin says he’s “cautiously optimistic” that Santonio Holmes and Troy Polamalu will be back in the lineup on Sunday. Holmes and Polamalu are expected to run today in practice and will be reevaluated as the week progresses. Kickoff Sunday night 8:15 p.m.
