The Steelers wide receivers, by and far, are proficient in what they do on the field. But at least for this week – when they face the Miami Dolphins – there will be some slight alterations to the starting receiving corps. It appears that Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will place Nate Washington at split end (#2 WR on offense) against the Dolphins Monday.
To understand the reasoning for the switch, probably the best way to describe the switch is that Arians feels that Washington is a better matchup in certain offensive packages that he has in place against the Dolphins. This doesn’t mean that the other Steeler wide receivers have been forgotten. With the proposed receiver switches, expect WR Cedric Wilson to be placed at flanker. So don’t assume this is a purging of the receiving corps; if anything, this is a one-time thing here.
