After giving the Steelers players and fans the scare of their lives on Sunday, it looks like the outcome is going to be great for linebacker James Harrison. Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed on Tuesday that Harrison, who was hurt and carried off the field Sunday, has nothing more than a stiff neck, and that he might actually be able to play Sunday when the Steelers host the San Francisco 49’ers. Harrison was caught in a pileup on the last play of the first half, and rammed his head into teammate Casey Hampton’s back. He laid motionless for a few seconds as the Steelers delayed a halftime tribute until Harrison was taken off the field.
The gutsy LB was back on the sideline in the third quarter though, and despite not playing again it allowed all the Steelers and their fans to breathe a little easier. Harrison currently is second on the team with 10 tackles, and also has a sack. He is a tough player and has been looking for the chance to play a lot for the Steelers in 2007, so I would expect him to be on the field Sunday vs San Fran. Tomlin said he might be held back a bit in practice on Wednesday, but again, look for him to get a solid ovation when he takes the field at 1PM Sunday.
